Our Story

Gray Day Goods was born on a gray day in Portland, Oregon. I am a Cement Mason by trade and our work tends to slow down during our cold, rainy winters. It was during one of these lulls in work that I began to play around with concrete on a smaller scale. I had a Secret Santa gift exchange coming up and I wanted to give the friend I was assigned something handmade. I have never been much of a crafter so I decided to stick with the material I knew best. I made my first small planter and I was hooked.

Including pressed flowers in my work was a natural progression. Being a Cement Mason is a core part of my identity, gardening and a love of plants is another huge part of who I am. Before I found my way to a career in construction I worked as a gardener and farmer. I have tended many gardens over the years, both large and small. All of the plants I use in my work I grew myself or responsibly scavenged from roadside ditches and vacant lots of Oregon.
